The Malta Citizenship by Direct Investment program requires the applicant to make a significant contribution to the country's economy. The main applicant may include the following family members in their
application for Malta Citizenship by Direct Investment:
To be eligible for Malta Citizenship by Investment, the Main Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and meet the application requirements set out below.
(own children or children of his/her spouse who are below 18 years of age at the time of filing of the application, provided that they are not married and are financially dependent on the Main Applicant)
(his/her spouse's own or adopted children above 18 but below 29 years of age at the time of filing of the application, provided that they are unmarried, fully maintained by the Main Applicant, or to a significant extent are financially dependent on the Main Applicant)
(for example, parents, grandparents/great-grandparents), provided that they live with the Main Applicant and are financially dependent on the Main Applicant
Expedited process (Option V1) – with the possibility of applying for citizenship after 12 months of residence, or Standard process (Option V2) – with the possibility of applying for citizenship only after 36 months of residence.
Obtaining lifelong citizenship status immediately by all family members, including parents and grandparents
No obligation to reside in Malta (the exception to the above is that the residence conditions should be met, i.e., the applicant should demonstrate of strong links with

RESIDENCY STAGE
Residency application.
€10,000 contribution to the Malta National and Social Development Fund.
Payment to Malta Community Agency the residency stage processing fees.
Payment for 36 months validity Residency Cards (€27.50 / each).
All applicants shall remain residents of Malta from the time they receive their residence cards until they become citizens.
ELIGIBILITY STAGE
Preparing Proof of Eligibility package within 12 months. If the documents are not submitted within the specified period of time, the government agency is obliged to revoke the resident status.
Payment of Eligibility Payment Request Voucher (EPRV).
First three-level due dilligence of the applicant, his/her family members and financial assets.
A preliminary decision according to the results of the due diligence process is made by the relevant minister within 120-150 days from the date of making EPRV payments.

CITIZENSHIP STAGE
Citizenship Application.
For option V1 – after 12 months.
For option V2 – after 36 months.
In case of a correctly formed package of required documents, the application can be re-examined.
After completing the re-examination and the second phase of the 3-level due diligence process, Malta Community Agency issues an Investment Request Voucher (IRV) to pay investments and the remaining mandatory payments.
Letter of Approval in Principle.
Submission of proof of compliance with the program requirements to the Malta Community Agency within 4 months:
Final check at Malta Community Agency (5 days).
Invitation for the Oath of Allegiance to the Republic of Malta from Malta Community Agency (this invitation is valid during 6 months from the date of issue of the Letter of Approval in Principle and applies to applicants over 18 years older).
OATH OF ALLEGIANCE
After taking the Oath and performance of the remaining regulatory procedures, the Main Applicant receives a Certificate of Naturalization, incorporating all participants in his/her application.
Upon the expiry of 7 business days, all applicants can personally obtain Maltese foreign travel passports.
ANNUAL MONITORING
During the first 5 years, the Agent accompanying the citizenship application, shall submit on an annual basis an Annual Compliance Form for the persons participating in the application.
Payment to the Maltese National and Social Development Fund in the amount of €750,000 (Option V1) or €600,000 (Option V2).
Donation of at least €10,000 to any local charity
organization registered with the Charity Commissioner of Malta.
Purchase of a property in Malta worth at least €700,000 for a period of at least 5 years
or
Rent a property in Malta for a period of at least 5 years for a minimum annual rent of €16,000.
Arranging the international health insurance with a minimum coverage of €50,000.
