In 2013 Spain passed a law for supporting investors and attracting international
investment, and thanks to this law a number of new ways
to obtain a Spanish residency permit were introduced, including
by investing in real estate in Spain or in the Spanish economy.
This type of Spanish residency permit can be obtained in just 20 days, without even having to leave Spain. The lack
of any requirement to live in the country gives you the possibility of not becoming a tax resident of Spain.

Three ways to obtain a Spanish residency permit
by investment
Investing in residential or commercial real estate in an amount of
at least 500,000 euro
Investing in shares of a Spanish company or making a bank deposit of
at least 1,000,000 euro
Investing in state bonds in an amount of
at least 2,000,000 euro
The new law also covers investors who have drawn up an investment
project that will create jobs, investments in the socioeconomic
sphere, and innovation in science and technology.
Ways to apply
GOLDEN VISA FOR INVESTORS
- Application is made at a Spanish consulate
- The visa is issued within 10 days for 1 year, and is
subsequently extended for 2 years
RESIDENCY PERMIT FOR INVESTORS
- Application is made within Spain
- The permit is issued within 20–30 days for 2 years, and is
subsequently extended for 5 years
The only condition for extending the permit is that
you continue to own the piece of real estate
or maintain your investment.
